Yes. the IR block filter is in the Prisim of the F5 camera, ditto for the F4
and the Pentax 67II and probably a few other cameras I don't know about.
Your idea is a good one, but a spare F5 prisim costs about as much as a good
used Nikon N90s camera.

In the F5, the prism is removable to change the focusing screen. It is the
metering mechanism in the prism? Could one have the IR blocking removed
from a prism dedicated to IR and have another prism for regular use?
