For what it's worth, my understanding from reading Kodak's pages is that
for a sufficient order, Kodak will make almost anything you like. Someone
here in the States from whom I buy 8mm Kodachrome buys it in bulk from
Kodak, and resells it. (Of course, with Kodachrome you wind up sending it
off to Switzerland for processing, but...)
In any event, I think a minimum order is around 750 square feet. Kodak
obviously is still making the emulsion for the roll film, and 4x5 Estar
base isn't going to disappear for a bit yet. However 750 square feet is
something like 5,400 sheets of 4x5. I suppose it's not impossible to find a
home for that much HIE among its fans, and it might be worth a call to
Kodak to see what it might cost...
