They aren't bad. I have several, intending to use them in my IR light 
meter. One nice thing is that spectral curves are usually available from 
Edmunds.

I have bought a few of their other filters, both IR and UV, and typically 
they have been satisfactory.

By the way, note that Edmunds sells the Hoya filters in several ring sizes. 
But you can do better on the price at somewhere like The Filter Connection. 
I got my R-72 at about half of Edmund's price.
