Daniel,

All the rayon, polyester and nylon clothing I've photographed in the studio shows
up white in prints regardless of dye color, using HIE and an 87C filter. Phil
suggested using cotton denim, but I use a black cotton denim backdrop and it
reflects less IR than visible light. Likewise, denim trousers have always shown up
in more or less the same tone as on conventional b&w film.

As Phil also pointed out, dye matters. I often have models who bleach their hair
and then dye it a dark blue or purple or even black; they always look blonde in the
IR photos!

You might want to shoot a "test" roll in your local fabric store before you
reupholster the sofa!
