In my opinion the Maco film is just about the same as the Konica.

Konica peaks at 750 nm and although I have not seam a spectral sensitivity
curve for the maco I have noticed that if you try anything stronger than a
Hoya R72 filter the film speed does fall sharply. Also the fact that its
maximum sensitivity is 820 implies to me it like the Konica.

You also get the nice fine grain and no halation in your highlights, whether
that's good or bad is up to you.

Although I have not really tested the Konica yet I know it is slow. I use a
Hoya R72 and rate the Maco with my IR filtered (wratten 87) Minolta
autometer 3 at about 20 asa in the midtones and dev in undiluted Xtol for 8
mins.

The negs have more contrast than Kodak's but are nice. Having said that
though I am getting a 70mm back for my RB so I can use Kodak's IR film as
that produces the kind of images I am after.

Do try the film, it is nice to use and you do get the white foliage and dark
skies indicative to IR it may well be what YOU want. If we all liked the
same things life would be very dull!

I have not tried his film yet, but from what I've seen about
it it seems to
be a closer relative of the Konica infrared than the Kodak.
How does it
compare to the Konica film in terms of film speed, grain,
wood effect,
		handling, etc?
