Hello folks:

Last year, I bought my new Nikon Coolpix 950 digicam (digital camera). I
recently ordered some infrared filters and filter holder from B&H Photo, Inc
and received them in a few
days. With Hoya R72 filter (aka Wratten #89B), I successfully took a
picture with
my Nikon Coolpix 950. I looked at a picture on my PC when I downloaded them
from my digicam via the flash reader. The sky looks like reddish. The
confiers looks like bluish.
Some objects looks like white. Hmmm. it looks like mapping infrared
spectrometer to me!
Yes, bluish is longer wavelength infrared but reddish is shorter wavelength
infrared.
White is middle wavelength infrared. If you want to see my picture, I will
send you via email. I have not set my web site yet.

With Kodak Wratten #87 and #87C, a picture looks like more white than
reddish/bluish pictures. I have a problem with autofocus! They are little
blurry. I am figuring it out
why... Later I found out that I turned flash off that cause focus manual
settings to being reset! I have turn flash off first before I set manual
focus to infinity.

When I am in my home, I was able to see images on my camera's LCD monitor at
normal light room. When I tried to take a picture, it takes long to
complete it! It takes 1/2 to 1 second to complete at normal light room. I
successfully took a picture inside my home but it was blurry due to my hand
shaking.

Also I have Sony camcorder. Its model is TRV-510. When I turned nightshot
on at daylight,
screen is complete white or extremely overexposed. When I put Hoya R72
infrared filter on
my Sony camcorder, it is slightly less overexposed or partially white with
nightshot on and clearly infrared picture with nightshot off. With
nightshot off, a infrared picture is far more reddish with slightly
bluish-looking confiers than my Nikon pictures. It is comparable with my
Nikon Coolpix 950 digicam! When I put Kodak Wratten #87 and #87C on my Sony
camcorder, it is more less overexposed and half solid white with nightshot
on and clearly infrared picture with nightshot off. Inside my home, it
looks like dim room with nightshot off but clearly infrared picture with
nightshot on. When I took a picture on my Sony camcorder with nightshot off
and Hoya R72 filter, I have a problem with my picture. They looks like
television scan lines on some bright area. Clearly my Sony TRV-510
camcorder has ability to record infrared video regardless on nightshot
switch off or on.

Does anyone have similar experience with Sony TRV-510 camcorder for infrared
video/photography?

Thank you!
