RE: Web site/New images
Keith,
Thanks for looking and your encouraging comments. The SFX200 pictures were
taken on a sunny day - in July I think. I rated the film at the suggested 200
and initially tried metering through the filter on my EOS 10, bracketing a
stop each way usually.
However, after a few shots I was a bit worried that the meter was giving me
too much exposure so I decided to rate the film lower and meter without the
filter. I rated it at 20 - just over 3 stops down. On looking at the negatives
this was a good decision since the earlier shots were somewhat overexposed.
(My initial attempts at HIE proved that my EOS 10's meter is not particularly
sensitive to infrared).
I tried to keep the f-stop small: f8 or f11 and in the 'sunny' pictures I was
getting a shutter speed of about 1/60th (which roughly equates to the sunny 16
rule - taking into account the film speed and the filter).
As I said in another post, I'm quite pleased with the SFX shots and will try
some more this year (I also have a couple of rolls of Maco to try). I've tried
a Cokin 003 with it before and the results were OK, though some looked a bit
strange. The 70 filter, however, does seem quite suited to it. I also have
Ilford's SFX gel filter but find it rather inconvenient to use; I've not used
that with SFX, though.
Cheers,
Kevan
