Site Redesign
Dear friends
OK ... time to put my megabytes where my mouth is (or something like that).
I'm getting to the point where the ole web site needs a spring clean
and since you guys (generally guys, not so many gals lately) have
sharpened your usability tools - the Neilsen Swiss Army Knife in
particular - I'd like your input. Can't promise to slavishly follow
suggestions but I was impressed by the discussion about Symon's site
- as much as I was impressed by his technique for taking the shots.
(Not a fish-eye but, I believe, a silver ball as used in the
legendary 'all sky camera'.)
Things like: can you find the pictures you want to see and when you
get there are they worth seeing?
How are the download times?
Would you buy any photos (not a commitment) and, if you would, what
would you think a fair price for a quad-tone A4 inkjet done by me and
for an archival 'real' showprint (about 10 by 14 on 12 by 16 fibre
paper) done by the best lab in London? Unframed and not mounted, not
including shipping.
Should I take credit cards (if the above is worth doing)?
Anything you'd like more of ... and anything you'd like less of?
If you are not a native English speaker, is the web site understandable?
What is the single thing you like best?
What is the single thing you hate most?
Menwhile it's back to my Definitive Guide to Cascading Style Sheets
(700 nm edition).

I should say that I may use this all as source for the Internet
chapter I'm writing for the third edition of 'Managing Multimedia'
although I won't mention anyone by name. I suspect that peer review
is a potentially useful tool in web design and so I'm going to give
it a go. With your indulgence of course. I'll also summarise the
results on the group when I get the chance.
Cheers
Andy Finney
Hold it up to the light: not a brain in sight!
PS: This is not (really) a blatant attempt to increase the viewing
figures. I joined the web ring for that ... have you?
