Subject: Kodak Ektachrome Infrared
I wondered if any of you have ever had this film cross processed and what
happened with it?
Yes I tried it a few years ago and it turned out rather well. I think I'd
rate it at ISO 100 and meter through a yellow filter if you'd like a
starting point.
The negatives obviously lack the typical orange mask and instead have a
slight magenta tint. You'll have to take it to a pro lab to get it cross
developed. Good luck. Not many pro labs cross process film and of those that
do, some may not have experience doing it with IR films. Remind them to turn
off the IR sensors.
The negative (no pun intended!) aspects of using this film is:
Poor shadow blacks. They are brownish looking.
Poor blues they are not as saturated.
Benefits are you get prints!
In the end I'll continue using E6 since it gives nicer colors.
See my web page at
http://infrared.homestead.com if you want to buy this film at over 50% off
the commercial price.
Peace, Rolland
