Paul,
 George is right, the same toothbrush cleaning I do once every threee
months.  I use Paterson and I never had any problems. Throw away that Hong
Kong thing, it doesn"t sound reliable to me!  Another advice:  before
spooling in the film I always move those little steel balls sitting in the
beginning of the reel. I move them a bit forward/backward as sometimes they
are a bit sticky and prevent the film being transported properly. Success!
