Subject: Yahoo Web Ring License ... and upcoming articles
Andy, thank you for the below information,
I've included the link to those that wish to join the ring. Please add the
navigation bar somewhere in/on your site.
To those that are on a server that doesnt support javascript.. I will
be including HTML for the ring in the near future....
To become a member of this Ring, visit this URL and follow the
instructions:

I've finally got around to reading the Yahoo small print since
concerns were raised about Yahoo taking a license on material in
'publicly accessible areas' - the extract from clause 8 is this one:
With respect to photos, graphics, audio or video you submit or make
available for inclusion on publicly accessible area of the Service
other than Yahoo! Clubs or Yahoo! Groups, the license to use,
distribute, reproduce, modify, adapt, publicly perform and publicly
display such Content on the Service solely for the purpose for which
such Content was submitted or made available. This license exists
only for as long as you elect to continue to include such Content on
the Service and will terminate at the time you remove or Yahoo
removes such Content from the Service.
But clause 8 then goes on to define publicly accessible areas and the
definition specifically EXCLUDES the following (extracted):
... areas off of the Yahoo network of properties such as portions of
World Wide Web sites that are accessible through Yahoo! Webring but
are not hosted or served by Yahoo.
Therefore I can see no attempt by Yahoo to take any rights in
anything on an external web site linked via a web ring unless the
site in question is part of Yahoo. As I said before, the licence is
to allow Yahoo to display anything you put on the Yahoo site itself.
Worries over guys!
