RE: Fogging?

It sounds like over-vigorous agitation to me...

Subject: Fogging?
I just processed a roll of HIE and looking at the negatives I notice black
evenly spaced lines coming from the bottom of the images, the negs as whole
seem fairly even otherwise. It seems like sometype of fogging that has
something to do with the sprokets. I didn't load the film myself, the guys
at Wolf Camera did it for me. I unloaded the film and processed it myself in
total darkness. This was my first time processing film and I noticed that I
didn't pour enough of the first bath solution of Diafine into the loaded
tank. The negs look pretty good actually accept for those lines. Does
anyone know what caused this? If not I will post some of them after I have
them printed for a little better idea of what happened.
Thanks again
Nathan

rule of thumb: in B&W film, dark areas are caused by exposure to light. evenly spaced means that you have a light leak usually in the cassette.
if you didn't develop, didn't have developer touch a portion of the negative, that area will be clear after fixing. remember, one test of a fix time is to place a piece of undeveloped film in fixer, note the time to clear and double that.
if you agitated, you'd have some developer on the film, not an optimal amount, but some. so you'd see some uneven development of the image. but not totally black.
