My idea was to tumble the LEDs with coarse grit so the outside would
be frosted. This turned out to be an excellent plan, except that the
LEDs thus treated no longer light up. :^( Static electricity, I'm
guessing. Anybody want $65 worth of clear epoxy and wires?
My new tack is to use surface mounted LEDs. They don't have a
focussing lens at all, so they radiate light almost 180 degrees. I
bought some, but I haven't had time to continue my experiments for
over a month now. Got to make hay while the sun shines. I haven't
even read my favorite mailing list for two weeks.
