[MF3D.FORUM:22] Third Friday Stereo Diner Report
- From: Brian Reynolds <reynolds@xxxxxxxxx>

Greg asked to hear about the Third Friday Stereo Dinner, so here is
what I remember. I'll apologize in advance for the fact that I never
remember anyone's names.
There were eight of us at this month's Third Friday Stereo Dinner.
I brought some of my MF pairs taken at Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome of
their aeroplanes, WWI and earlier. These were taken on two different
trips with my Sputnik. On the first trip I tried handholding and
focusing with the viewfinder. I wound up with only a couple of sharp
pairs. On the second trip I used my tripod and set the camera to the
hyperfocal distance. Not everything was as sharp as I'd like, but
many more shots were usable. The only ones that weren't usable were
the ones that showed too much of the new flightline fence (behind
which the camera and tripod were setup).
Jerry (my wife's former co-worker) brought Loreo prints taken at the
balloon inflation in Central Park the night before the Macy's
Thanksgiving Day Parade. Jerry is a balloon wrangler in the parade.
A gentleman from Brooklyn (I told you was bad with names) brought
another of his home made barrier prints and a backlighting box for it.
The backlight was a florescent(sp?) tube with a curved shiny (looked
like a paper coated with a metallic foil) reflector in a nice wooden
box. He makes the barrier prints using a inkjet printer. He also
brought several very nice Nimslo/reading glasses closeups of flowers
and insects mounted for showing in a Kodak viewer.
Tom brought assorted goodies including samples of Greg's MF Fish Eye
stereo pairs, some of Greg's MF fireworks pairs, and several of Greg's
other MF work. These were all very nice. After seeing Greg's work
again my wife is pestering me to take some fireworks shots.
Unfortunately, even if I had Greg's skills, setting up a ten foot bar
isn't very practical at the NYC fireworks displays. Perhaps if we go
out of town in 2001 (2000 is another Op Sail so we're staying in
town).
Tom also brought the second MF Folio with him so that others could
see what a folio is and how it works and also had some of his 35mm
work.
There was another couple at the table, but I don't recall their names
(I'm really, really bad at names), and I don't think they brought
anything with them.
