I have been watching this thread closely as I am awaiting a Sputnik
overhaul by Paul Talbot. Having put up with quirky Realists, the
Sputnik's shortcomings will be of no surprise. But any help, tips, or
information on the Spuds will be of value to me.
As for medium format, I read a comment on here about the limitations
and shortcomings of medium format. As a 25+ year user of 35mm, I can
agree that 35 has some advantages in cost and versatility. But it does
not equal medium format in image tonality and quality. Even my 645 looks
so much better at 5x7 print size. At 11x14 it really shines. I did see
some stereo medium format at NSA 99 in Green Bay and was very impressed
by the image quality. Yes, the viewer I used was no Red-button. But I
can deal with that. I just finished building one of Rocky-Mountain
Memories viewer for medium format and yeah its a slide focus vs the nice
gear of the red-button. BUT, I don't care. It works.
I do have a question for this group. How do I receive the discussion
in digest form? Or is it not available in digest form?
