Stuart:

My twin shots are made with 2 Mamiya M7's with dual cable release...
but the interocular distance is limited to about 85mm... so I have to be
sure I do not use this dual pair with moving subjects at 8ft or close to the
camera...... and I shoot LF 4x5 with a Sinar Vario roll film back (each shot
can be selected, 6x4.5, 6x6, 6x7, 6x9, 6x12) I use this on a home made
slide bar...the benefit of the LF camera is the option to change the plane
of sharp focus, as well as utilize a better array of lenses, since LF is my
main gig. LF lenses I own are 55, 75, 110, 150, 240, 360, 450, 600, while
MF I am limited to 43, 80, and 150. I am looking forward to seeing David
Lee's LF viewer with slides to see if I want to attempt 4x5 stereo next...
but being a stereo beginner, I am content with MF for now, but I am LF
junkie, and this may spill over to stereo... but, even so, MF will most
likely be my mainstay due to the DOF limitations with the longer fl lenses
used in 4x5.

For my MF viewer, I recently bought a hand crafted Saturn from Alan
Lewis. Alan is a master craftsman! The optics are fabulous (78mm and very
wide) and the battery illuminated back lit display is very bright. The unit
will be a show piece for many years on my living room coffee table. If
anyone is interested in a MF viewer, I highly recommend this viewer for its
practical purposes, and as a hand crafted wood working marvel. I also found
it very useful as a slide mounting jig, by removing the eye piece portion
and placing it over my light table, I can properly mount my chromes... so it
actually serves 3 purposes!

I am in the process of experimenting with John B's formula. John, thank
you so much for sharing this information... it seems to be the only
inclusive formula that covers most all situations. If anyone has experience
shooting with John B's formulae please advise me of your results and any
things I may need to be wary of. I plan to be shooting a wide array of
subjects at different distances as well as with different fl lenses.. and
when I reviewed all the formulas, including Waacks, I found Johns answers to
be quite different a majority of the time. I am not concluding that makes
these answers correct, (or the most pleasing) but I am confident after
seeing Johns mathematical expertise, that he nailed this one! I will advise
the list after further testing. John, any input you could offer be helpful
before I start test shooting... Thank you..

Bill
