[MF3D.FORUM:435] Brass Tarnish new recipe, MF stereo proto

I finally came up with a combo that works reasonably well with making brass
look old. The strong tea, ammonia fumes, and liver of sulphur techniques
really didn't work well. Having a basement full of harmfull chemicals the
Toxic Avenger would be proud of, I started experimenting. I didn't create
gold, but I did manage to get the effect I wanted with the following:
I first dipped the brass in a mild solution of Silver Nitrate. This dulled
the surface close enough to the original finish. I then immersed the brass
in a solution of sodium sulide and liver of sulphur. It only takes a few
minutes to bring the brass to that yellowish old brass tint. A little
shellac or floor wax seals it.
Other topic. Has everyone seen the weird MF stereo prototype on ebay? Looks
like a home rig, but beautifully done. It's at:
