Try upgrading to a newer version of AOL software.  I
e-mailed a 40K+ digest to an AOL account and it arrived
entirely within an e-mail message (not as an attachment
at all).

If you have the latest version already, you'll need to
contact AOL support.  There may be a configuration setting
you can change.  I don't believe the problem is on the
list side.
