Why not build a "retractable roof" for the slot? ;-)

Not to be combative, but a lot of people use them with the
white side forward and the back in black (often for projection
reasons, presumably).
BTW, did you ever look at a single black RBT mount half in a
red button? Lost of light comes through. Not as much as the
white half, of course, but it's amazing how much light comes
through the black plastic.

Yeung mounts? What format are those? Have any pictures?

But most folks don't want to take that much time for the
majority of their images.

Are you willing to order without knowing the resolution of the
"ink coming off on wet fingers" issue, or how solid the shade of
black would be? And how soon (and how badly) do you want to have
them? Enough to pay Fed Ex charges to get them here pronto? Or
can you wait until perhaps the fall?
