I have been thinking about this a bit. Metal mounts are very opaque but
not cheap. Paper mounts are cheap but not very opaque. How about using
thin metal, like aluminum foil, sandwiched between common black and
white cardboard halves. The foil would be thin enough to have little
effect on the overall appearance or thickness of a mount while making it
very opaque.
