Hi Tom:

I have two Sputniks, one is a "Gomz" and the other a "Lomo". Both of them
have timers which start going as soon as you let them go. In both cameras,
the springs are quite weak and sometimes the timer cannot make it back to
its starting point - one must gently touch the timer handle to get it moving
again.

Neither timer works for operating the shutter, they're too weak to trigger.

A friend of mine also got a Lomo Sputnik recently, and his timer does wait
until you hit the shutter. Weird, but expected in Sputnikland.
