That could be the problem.  The Rolleidoscop I've seen
has a small metal protruding tripod socket, instead of
the normal recessed socket.  It's quite small and seems
to effectively turn the tripod into a monopod.  It also
does not hold the camera tightly enough to keep the camera
from spinning on the tripod.
