  Happy belated birthday Tom. How old
are you?

  I turned 40 on Friday (Nov 5th). Among
other things I got a Pentax 5.5x loupe for
my birthday. It is definitely nicer than
the $40 Horizon loupe that Tom picked up
for me at B&H.  It is higher magnification
than the 4x Horizon but not as high as
expected. It has lower magnification than
my Pentax FA50mm f1.4 lens, so I assume
this means that it is really a 4.5x loupe
(using the 250/FL method).

  A pair of them would make a nice stereo
viewer (35mm full frame, superslides
and maybe clipped MF) but the FL is a little
long for ideal viewing of stuff taken with
a 35mm lens.
