I surely wouldn't recommend using 220 in the Sputnik but if I was doing
it to save money, I would sacrifice one roll of film and count the turns for
each
pair of views. (It will change as the takeup spool increases in size as
exposed film is wound on.) You must have some way of keeping track of where
you are exposure wise. Seems like you could pay for the experiment in 5 or 6
rolls. I've never used outdated film at discounted prices, but I've never
seen 220 film cost less per exposure than 120. Using outdated 120 is probably
safer than 35mm because all professional suppliers I know, store 120 / 220 in
refrigerators.
The pressure plate on the Sputnik does not compare with professional cameras
meant to shoot 220film.
