Tom, and others,

  This bulb number, according to
my Digi-Key catalog appears to
be a JKL part number BF5118-20B.
And the -20 portion indicates
their RGB phosphor which has
peaks in the R, G and B to make
a brighter display in a laptop
LCD.

But is this really the best
phosphor for viewing slides?

  From their FAQ:

    Phosphor Type Color Temperature
  -01 (Warm White) 4700 to 4900° K
  -20 (RGB White) 5300 to 5500° K
  -21 (Cool White) 7300 to 7500° K

the RGB white seems closest to 5000K
but I wonder if the other phosphors
might be smoother spectrally and look
better with slides.

BTW I emailed JKL to see if they
have CRI ratings on their different
phosphors.
