Re: Sputnik Success
I haven't had to deal with Spud light leaks, but with a Realist, I found
the instructions re using felt or film cannister fuzz. Probably Fargo
sells something that would work. However, when I fixed the light leak in
my Realist I decided to permanently fix it. I cleaned the inside back rim
with alcohol and naptha. Then I applied a small bead of black silicone
sealer. I allowed it to skin over, but not set entirely, then attached the
back. The seal was perfectly matched between the back and the camera body,
will never shrink, or wear out, and no light enters. The same approach
ought to work with a Spud door. A safety factor might be using a little
vaseline on the door to keep the silicone from gluing it shut, then
cleaning the vaseline off with naptha.
Just an idea. Do it at your own risk.
