It's the finder you look through on a SLR.  Many MF SLRs have
interchangeable finders.  Most SLRs and all but one TLR have a
waistlevel finder.  The Mamiya TLRs and all of the SLRs can also use a
prism finder.  You attach the prism finder to the ground glass of the
camera for focusing.  The prism has five sides and correctly orients
the image of the ground glass so that it is right side up and
right/left correct.
