Hi Tom.
Yes, I do still use A1 flash bulbs when I can find them. Generally at 
photo fairs. I have a Minolta G16 16mm camera with dedicated 
flash gun. I tend to carry it around when I don't want to be weighted 
down, and the dedicated flash gun uses A1 bulbs
