Re: Lubitel Models



So combining what Tom said with the technical information, it looks like
there's probably a pre Lubitel 2/166/166U model with uncoated lenses and
made of bakelite? This is all valuable info for someone attempting to
bring a Sputnik back to life and trying to match parts/function. From all
I've seen it looks like the Lubitel 2 was probably the peak of Lubitel
evolution. Styrene is a terrible plastic for making a stable camera
housing. (Good for model airplanes though :) 

BTW re the lens adjustment info, the manual pages I have say that only the
front element adjusts, so the info about having to set two lenses of the
three that surfaced a few months ago is incorrect. It adjusts just like a
Kodak Stereo. I'd suggest anyone pulling one apart remove the black wheel
bearing grease (or whatever it is) from the front lens housing and replace
it with Radio Shack gel (with teflon). Smooths things up, and the RS lube
doesn't draw dust or migrate, according to the container anyway...
