Has anyone tried to recast a missing camera part?
Here are the basic steps: Find a perfect camera and take off the door.
You spray it with mold release, then cover it with a mold compound. Top,
then bottom. Then you remove the original part, put the mold back
together, and then pour in liquid plastic of some sort. Once it cures,
you take out your new door.
I've created artwork this way, but not camera parts. The cast item looks
identical to the original. I guess the trick owuld be to use the right
plastic to make your part out of.
