I've had the crinkling film problem on my Sputnik. It seemed to be caused
by either the clips or mis-alignment. I'm pretty sure I put both clips
to the outside of the spool and haven't been having problems. If you
already have a trash roll, try different ways and see what works.
Also, as has already been mentioned, Sputniks are VERY picky about aligning
the paper tab on the takeup spool. Be very careful that the paper is
centered in the spool and pulling smoothly across the two rollers.
I've had quite good luck using a single camera and a slide bar. I find
the bogen 3273(?) pro quick release works best with a heavy camera. This
does limit you to scenes without movement, but with the proper subject it
can work quite well. Don't be afraid to give it a try. Folks here are
very supportive. If they can put up with my MF pinhole photos, they can
handle a little rivalry.
