Lubitel variations

Here are some of the differences... the original Lubitel does not have
coated optics (all have T-22 lenses). Although not specifically noted, the
Lubitel 2 does have coated optics-- at least the one I bought did. I don't
know about the Lubitel 166. Lubitel and Smena cameras have similar
shutters-- in the Smena the diaphragm is inside the lens block, and in the
Lubitel cameras it is inside the shutter according to the book. (I didn't
have to do anything with the shutter, so I can't confirm or deny this.)
The photocopies I have state that the Sputnik "has two coupled shutters
similar in design and repair to the Smena-2 camera shutter." Another item
relating to the Lubitel 2 is that it has a "flash synchronization
mechanism and an automatic shutter release (selftimer) mechanism built
into the shutter. These mechanisms are similar to those in the Smena 2.
The repair of all the other Lubitel-2 camera units is done the same way as
for the Lubitel."

I don't have the source info for these photocopies, but it appears to be
from a substantial book on Russian camera repair. I do remember the person
who gave them to me said the book did not include the Fed. (I had to
repair a Fed shutter by guess and by golly and it isn't all that complex,
but the inner setup could potentially be complex. Joel is the Fed expert.)

Anyway don't ask me more, 'cause that's all I know!
