I'm cross-posting this message Bob Wier posted on P3D the other
day. I just received the worm on a message that came through
Joel's list. I assume everyone else did also.

Lately there has been a relatively large number of people
transmitting (unwittingly) a *worm* via an attachment called
HAPPY99.EXE (alternately also known as the Ska 'virus'). It
is not a virus in a traditional sense - its purpose is to
transmit itself to your outgoing e-mail to infect other
machines - as best as can be determined it does no large
scale harm to your own PC.

The advice is that if receive an attachment on a Win 95/98
machine, don't open it - trash it. Macs and other platforms
are immune.

I've already received a couple of copies on my (immune) Mac.

It is unlikely that you would see it from this list as
I filter out attachments and they are generally not passed
along. However, one needs to be careful, particularly in
reading USENET news groups.

For more information, on the worm, and how to remove it
if necessary, see

Thanks!
