I have considered making a macro camera based on this principle.  The idea
was to use two holes for a diaphragm instead of just one.  While simple in
concept, this turned into a real bugger as I tried to put the idea into
practice.

I tried designing it graphically, but reality didn't match my drawings.
And I tried to do it mathematically, but I don't understand the math well
enough.  :^)

Just another deadend, for me at least.
