OT: background for web page

Hi all,

  Does anyone here have an easy way to
make those cool embossed looking backgrounds
for web pages?

  What I'd like is something like MF 3D with
the letters appearing at different depth when
you freeview the background.

  My quick attemp with photoshop semiworked but
fine tuning the letter spacing was very difficult.
