A friend is going to pick me up a Horizon 4x loupe
next time he stops in at B&H. Here's the info on it:

Horizon 4x Stand Loupe (GHZ104)
This all-purpose loupe uses high resolution lenses with
chromatic aberration*. Wide square vision (48 x 48mm).
Features both a semi-transparent and black bottom skirt
for use with different lighting conditions. Includes
built-in focusing diopter with a 29mm wide eye-point.
Dimensions are 2 x 2 x 2.6" (54 x 54 x 65mm), weight
3.6oz. (104g).
Item # HOL4XVF....39.95

The URL is:

(* I assume the word NO is missing from this sentence.)

It doesn't quite cover our MF slides but I suspect
that is just the body and skirt.

The word on dejanews is that it is quite good,
especially for the price. And the 4x probably means
the FL is about 83mm (based on Mag=1+250/FL). Nice
match for most of our cameras.

If the loupe could be hacked to cover 50x50
then a pair of them would be quite decent, especially
because they are focusable.

I'll let you know how it compares to my AS&S and EdSci
achromats when I get it (in about a month).
