So many questions! ;)
I looked at these again last night, as it had been a
long time since I peered through them.
I need to do a side-by-side with the 40x84's but didn't
have time last night, so take these comments as
preliminary!
IMHO pincushioning is virtually undetectable. The edges
looked quite straight to me.
My first guess is that these may be uncoated. Reflections
don't appear to have any color tint. That doesn't -prove-
they aren't coated, I suppose, but that's my guess at
this point. If anyone can add to "how to tell if a lens
is coated" I'm happy to listen.
Coverage: With my glasses on, they cover maybe 98% to
the corners of the 6x6 mount (50x50 opening).
I've told Alan I will send him the two I have so he
can look through them himself, as well as see how much
of a job it would be to modify the viewer lensboard
to fit them if they look good. I hope to mail them off
to him in a couple of days.
I don't want to comment on contrast/sharpness yet, until
I can compare them with the 40x84 lenses.
Joel.
