Dark in the city

I can see I am not making myself clear.  Light polution isn't the problem.
Central Park is quite dark.  At 990 acres, the inner-most points are very,
very far from the street lights.

What I was talking about was the safety factor.  Now, I have been in
Central Park many times after dark in complete safety.  You will find
hundreds of runners there after 10pm, on the well-lit streets.  But
purposely seeking out a dark place in Central Park would still be a very
bad idea from the standpoint of personal safety.
