  This is for 6x6 cameras, hence the square.

  Basically 4 dots form the corners of the
square and 4 additional dots are placed at
the mid-points of the squares.

  You can compare FL (if distortion equal)
by measuring the diagonal distance between
the corner dots.

  If distortions aren't equal you can measure
the width (when corner dots coincide).

  Not as good as your method but I only want
to match lenses, not know their distortion.
