Of course the same thing applies, mutatis mutandis, to hypostereo 
which is the taking of stereo pairs with a reduced base.  If you 
use a stereobase of 1/10th the natural stereobase, say 6.5 mm, 
then everything will be reconstructed larger by a factor of ten 
and your depth perception will be reduced by a factor of ten.  
Hypostereo is useful when taking pictures of small things, bugs 
perhaps, so that one may enjoy a bug's-eye view of size.  

Also, a picture of a bug at a normal distance from the camera will 
show little variation in depth, perhaps a change from a near point 
of 1 meter to a far point of 1.005 meters.  If you use a reduced 
stereobase, you can bring the bug in closer by the same factor and 
now the depth variation in the scene will go up by that factor.
