I'm home!

Arrived home last night after a great trip to upstate New York, Boston,
Portland (Maine), and St. Pete/Tampa.
Eric Goldstein and I had a very enjoyable morning talking about
photography, etc. and having lunch at a Japanese place in Arlington,
Mass. I don't know about you Eric, but that green tea almost put me into
caffeine psychosis! I showed Eric a beat up Contax given to me by my
brother's ex-girlfriend (the camera was her father's until he passed
away recently). Eric brought along his beautiful Belplasca (I want
one!).
Getting out of Boston on Saturday was quite an ordeal. A normally 40
minute trip to the airport turned into 90 minutes of bumper to bumper
traffic as record rainfall flooded streets and pushed manhole covers out
of their holes. Once at the airport I had to wait 4 hours until the
weather cleared enough for the plane get on its way. What a contrast to
the blue skies at my destination in Florida.
The only cultural activity I had time for in St. Pete was the Dali
Museum. Overall it's a good museum, albeit fairly small and with a
limited scope. I was disappointed to not find any examples of his stereo
paintings. However, I did buy a couple very interesting books on
geometry in nature and art.
The folio and the Yashica Mat 124G I bought were waiting for me when I
arrived home. I haven't even opened the folio but the Yashica Mat looks
good. The only problem I see with it is the bulb setting which doesn't
stay open but rather fires the shutter for a tenth of a second or so.
Because of that I can't check the focus calibration with a ground glass.
I suppose I could just shoot a roll of film with it. If the bulb setting
is the only problem I'm satisfied since I paid only $125 for it.
