Probably somewhat subjective, but I think there is benefit from the extra
area. Whether it justifies the extra work needed to get the images is of
course open for debate ;)

Of course, if you're like Stephen, you build your own 4x5 stereo camera!!!

4x5 is a bit overkill :-> I think it makes more sense to put effort and money into a good MF stereo outfit. However, here's a quote from a message Joel posted:
