It uses the frame numbers on the black backing paper on the film,
through a little red window.

Normally, you line up frame numbers 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11
for six stereo pairs. For single frame, you'd cover one lens
and shoot consecutive numbers.

yes.

Yep. Think so, anyway. It's not a focal plane shutter, so you
don't have the sync problems you have on an SLR.

Not really, as 220 doesn't have the film backing paper, so you
lose the frame information.
