Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that pinhole images were as sharp as
lens images could be (although they are as sharp as a lens stopped
down to the same f-ratio), just that it is possible to get sharper
results than most people have seen.

Sharpness isn't always the best solution when making an image.
Pinholes, soft focus lenses and other techniques allow you to use
different ways to look at a subject.
