[MF3D.FORUM:1467] Joel/Tom MF Folio II

I'd like to update people about this folio and start some discussion
about it.

First off, I have the folio. It arrived at my office while I was away
in Hawaii. This was a surprise to me because I hadn't realized that I
was next on the list.

For those who are new to the list, this folio was started a while ago
by Joel Alpers (founder of Rock Mountain Memories and this list) in
part because Greg's excellent folio was full. Since Joel has been
occupied with things outside the MF3D world Tom Deering took over the
folio some time ago. At this point I am proposing to take over
administration of the folio (I've already spoken to Tom about this)
and I'd like to discuss some new rules.

This folio has an unfortunate history of taking far too long to
complete the loop. I think the changes I'm proposing will help
correct this. I want a discussion of these changes. They are not set
in stone.

1) I need the email address, postal address and phone number of
   everyone in the folio.

2) The folio will travel via a method (to be determined) that uses a
tracking system. Personally I'd choose UPS, but I realize that
there are problems with border crossings and UPS. When a method is
choosen I will probably fill in a set of the proper mailing forms.

3) When the folio is sent out I am to be emailed with the tracking
   number.

4) When the folio arrives I am to be emailed with the arrival date.

5) You may keep the folio for two weeks and no longer. I hope the
longer time will allow people to enjoy the folio and get to the
shipping office within the deadline. Keeping the folio longer than
the deadline will quite possibly mean that you will not be in the
   next loop.

6) I will create a web page similar to Paul's MF 3D Expo 2000 tracking
page so that everyone will know where the folio is. I intend to
update the estimated arrival times as the folio travels the loop.

7) I intend to continue using Joel's comment page, but I haven't
   spoken to Joel about this.

8) Comments are mandatory. I don't care if you just say "Ooo! Pretty
picture.", but I want to know that people do get to see the images.
At the least it's another way to track the progress of the folio.

9) Being in the folio means that you agree to allow me to harrass you
if you hold onto the folio past the deadline. If I do not get the
proper emails I intend to start by emailing the people involved and
then escalating to phone calls. I'm a New Yorker. I know how to
   be annoying. :)

I also think that we may wish to ship via a method that requires a
signature on delivery (ie., no dropping the package at the door).
This would probably mean shipping to work addresses.

I currently have slides from the following people:

    Erinie Rairdin (3 slides)
    David Lee
    Paul Talbot
    Stephen Puckett
    Brian Reynolds
    Tom Deering
    Greg Menzel
    Joel Alpers (Guest 1)
    Brenda Nowlan

I also have a blank page labeled Lester Ng. I assume he dropped out
of the folio.

I have no contact information for anyone on this list (other than by
going back through my MF3D archives). Tom has said he would get me
the information he has. Since I don't have addresses I haven't
figured out routing yet.

Tom is the next person on the list and I intend to give him the folio
at the Third Friday Stereo Dinner coming up this week (Feb. 16, 2001).

Given the number of people currently in the folio and assuming two
weeks of hold time and one week of shipping (a pessimistic assumption
I hope) I think the loop time will be just shy of seven months. The
folio can probably fit another couple of people if anyone wants to
join.
