Thanks to Bill and Dick for explaining the history and organization of the
two merged societies.

>I'll be happy to raise this question at the SSA annual meeting on Sunday
>morning after breakfast at the NSA convention, though it remains a
>mystery to me why any stereo enthusiasts would deny themselves the

>Stereo World.

Since I brought this up in the first place. I should explain that I have
been an NSA member in the past, and have contributed to two workshops at
the 1996 and 1997 NSA conventions. I fully agree that NSA is doing an
excellent job promoting general stereoscopic photography, and the medium
would not be as popular as it is today without them. But as for Stereo
World, it has a lot to be desired.

First of all Stereo World in the past has done a very poor job of promoting
Medium Format Stereo Photography. A quick survey of past 250+ issues has
only a couple of articles on MF cameras. I have never seen any articles at
all on the current state and benefits of medium format stereo photography.
Yet kitschy topics like computer-generated SIRDS or "stereograms" (another
word computer geeks destroyed like the word 3D) were promoted to death.

If this has indeed changed in the last couple of years I apologize, but
that was the state of the rag when I subscribed. If someone can point me to
full length articles to the contrary I'll subscribe immediately. My
interests in stereo have not changed much over the years, so if medium
format stereo and stereo equipment making are now prime topics, I
definately want to know.

So getting back to the mystery as to why and MF stereo enthusiast would not
want to pay an extra $38 for these benefits, that should be pretty clear.
The price of being able to enjoy medium format slides with fellow 3ders on
the other hand may make it worthwhile if the scope is more broad ranged
than the current free folios.
