In a message dated 12/04/01 00:21:36 GMT Daylight Time, Bill G Quotes me with:

And then asks:

<< Have you ever tried taking these scans and printing them to a film
recorder to MF slides instead of 35mm? I am curious if one can get a high
quality 35mm scan to match MF quality while viewing inside MF viewer?
(meaning could people tell which was which?) In theory, one should be able
too, since the total enlargement factor after 4x magnification in the viewer
is under 10x. (very acceptable using Provia F or Velvia) Whats your
 opinion on this Bob?>>

My reply:

Well, I enquired into the cost of a MF back for the recorder and the cost was
well into four figures :-(

So, at the weekend (but low priority) I was playing with a home made back
based on an RB 67 back with a 75mm Rokkor enlarging lens... I have to figure
out a way of setting the focus, and I'll have to leave the 35mm back
connected electrically so the machine will happily think that it has a camera
attached...

It'll be a bit cludgy, but if I can crack the focus thing, then it should
work.

Whether it'll give an acceptable quality, your guess is as good as mine.

Maybe I'll see if a contact that I have who has an 8K film recorder and 5 x 4
and MF backs will run me out a few tests for some ViewMaster reels and a
viewer :-)

I'll keep you all posted.
