[MF3D.FORUM:1679] Re: Intro - My Turn
I have had an interest in photography since I was about 8 using my
Brownie Six-20. In high school and college I took photography classes,
but there was never any mention of stereo. Then in the mid 80's I
remember cracking apart a VM viewer and trying to align a pair of 35
slides inside. About 1987 I noticed a classified ad for a used camera
store which mentioned 3-D cameras. I went in and came out with a Realist
and a Kodaslide II. The owner there steered me to Reel 3-D and I was
hooked. Dozens of cameras later my main users for 35mm are a Realist 2.8
with Ektars, twin Nikon FM's and a Realist macro which I recently hacked
together. Now for MF. About 10 years ago I hacked together a pair of
Holgas, then bought a cardboard pinhole camera from Switzerland, then
about 6 yrs ago I found a Puck followed by a EHO. These were simple box
cameas in which I used print film and made contact sheets to cut and
mount. Then I can blame Joel for selling me a Sputnik and Saturn kit
about 4 years ago. Then when I found out about panorama mounts from RMM
I had to get a pair of Horizon 202's. Recently I have been playing with
a Century Graphic with 6x6 and 6x9 roll backs. It is great for close-ups
on a slide bar.
PS. Last weekend I mounted my first black mounts. They are very nice. I
save them for my better slides as I still have quite a few white mounts.
Also regarding the method of sealing the mounts. I have always used a
very thin bead of Elmers around the edges and down the center. Then I
weight them down with something heavy and flat for a few minutes.
