I few weeks ago I posted a solution that even made Don Lopp cringe: Using
Magictape as a ground glass and check each lens through the back for
approximate focus in relation to the viewfinder while the shutter is open
and the largest aperture (f3.5?) is used. Of course real ground glass is
much more accurate, but not everyone has one handy. Search the archives for
Sputnik or "Spud" postings if interested. Shooting a roll at 3.5 will also
give you the same results, you just won't be able to adjust until later.

For smaller formats this is easy to get an general aperture setting due to
the greater depth of field of shorter lenses. My perference would be f16,
but can you work with the slower shutter speeds?
