Hi Guys,

I just invented the neatest little control for the light source of MF
stereo viewers. It happened completely by accident but it works so well I'm
going to keep it as a feature.

My own viewer has a very bright flourescent bulb for a light source. I
needed a device to regulate the amount of light, so I rigged up a blind on
wires that passes in front of the bulb with the turn of a knob at the side.
By contolling the amount the opaque blind vignettes the bulb, I make the
light source vary in intensity without changing the color temperature.

Anyway, I miscalculated the hieght of the blind and the distance it
travelled. Most settings had the desired effect, but on two settings the
blind causes uneven lighting in the form of a soft horizontal band. So why
is this a good feature? Ever take a flash shot where the lower forground
is too bright? I can now balance it! How about the sky is too bright? Fixed
that too! Ah the marvels of screwups!!!!

If anyone's interested in this I can take pictures and post them.

Sam
